The Ask:

This report, created in the Spring of 2023 for the course Concepts of the Fashion Industry, involved an in-depth analysis of a publicly traded fashion company’s performance and growth in the stock market. I selected Ralph Lauren, beginning with a thorough exploration of the brand's history and financial trends over time. Leveraging insights from the course on stock market fundamentals, I crafted a comprehensive paper that examined Ralph Lauren’s market position, incorporating professional writing, detailed charts, and a timeline of market fluctuations to present my findings clearly and effectively (see bottom of this page).

Company History

Ralph Lauren founded his company in 1967 while working for the necktie manufacturer Beau Brummel, driven by a vision to create his own neckwear designs. By 1969, his collection, Polo, was sold exclusively at Bloomingdale’s, marking a significant milestone. Just two years later, in 1971, Lauren opened his first standalone store on Beverly Hills’ iconic Rodeo Drive and debuted his first women’s collection. Over time, the Ralph Lauren brand continued to evolve, expanding into fragrances, home accessories, and even home paint. On June 12, 1997, the Ralph Lauren company became a publicly traded company.
