Fashion Forecast

To develop a comprehensive forecast for the upcoming womenswear fashion season, anticipating key trends in color, fabric, silhouettes, and styling.

The Ask:

This semester-long project was produced in the spring of 2024, in the course, Fashion Forecasting. It involved a collaborative effort with a talented team made up of four of my classmates to develop a comprehensive fashion forecast. I took on key responsibilities, including creating several mood boards in Photoshop, analyzing Vogue’s extensive archives for emerging fabric and silhouette trends, forecasting trims, details, prints, and patterns, and researching cultural influences. Our work culminated in a visual slide deck, where I presented our findings alongside my teammates to a panel of industry critics (see bottom of this page).

Inspiration

DUNE II: This forecast, developed in the spring of 2024, aligned with the surge in popularity of the film adaptation of Dune II. Given the film’s own emphasis on costuming and fashion, my team and I forecasted that its influence would carry into the upcoming fashion season. The film served as the spark of inspiration for our theme, “Deserting Reality,” which explores the influence of space travel, resulting in trends centered around space and desert wear aesthetics and themes within fashion.

Vogue Archives

A significant portion of my research for this project focused on analyzing recent and current fashion seasons. I dedicated countless hours delving into Vogue's archives, uncovering material and content to support our theme. This experience not only enriched the project but also sparked a newfound appreciation for archival research, allowing me to hone my skills and deepen my interest for this meticulous and creative work.
